Reviewing one of the most intense movies that I have watched: Swallow

I watched “Swallow” recently, a movie starring Haley Bennett (Hunter) and Austin Stowell (Richie). It's one of the most interesting movies that I came across, it discusses many important issues including mental health and toxic relationships.

Haley Bennett is brilliant and gives a powerful performance, how she portrayed this complicated character is astonishing, she managed to express all the emotional pain that (Hunter) is experiencing.

This movie takes the audience on a rollercoaster of emotions, it kept me wanting to know what comes next until the last second of the film.

I felt so much compassion for (Hunter) she's truly suffering and has no control over her life. She hides her sadness and wants her life to seem perfect but it's far away from it.

The main character lived her entire life to please others, her family, her husband and her in-laws, she was incapable of refusing what was not good for her nor defending herself.

First, I thought (Hunter) was from the sixties because of how she dresses and how she behaves, the only thing that showed that she's from the modern time is her phone.

The storytelling in “Swallow” is really good and it presents how (Hunter) feels guilty for something that was never her fault and she spent her entire life haunted by a horrible thing, which destroyed her self worth.

(Hunter) was betrayed and letdown by everyone, she has never experienced true love and the only kindness that she received was from a total stranger (Luay).

When she revealed her secret, I gasped, there was nothing that prepared me for it. It was obvious that something bad happened to her, but it exceeded my imagination.

Also, the scene where (Hunter) gets her closure and faces her biggest fear is a masterpiece. The acting and the dialogue were extraordinary.

(Hunter) is an example of a person who faced an unimaginable trauma that made her think she was unworthy of love and undeserving of real happiness.

If you decide to watch “Swallow” it will put you on the edge of your seat, not expecting what comes next, and you need to be prepared to be intrigued and to follow the heartbreaking journey of (hunter).
