Few of my favorite Nizar Qabbani poems

Today is my birthday! so I'm celebrating with my online readers by translating a few of my favorite Nizar Qabbani poems from "book of love".

He described the book as an attempt to write "Arabic poetry in a new method" to be more modern and more practical.

So here's my translation of few of my favorite Nizar Qabbani poems from "book of love"

-My beloved asks me:

What is the difference between me and the sky?

The difference between the two of you

If you laugh, my beloved

I forget the sky

-Oh Lord! My heart is no longer enough

Because the one I love equals the world

Put another one in my chest

To be as spacious as the world

-I hate to love like people

I hate to write like people

I wish my mouth was a church

And my letters are bells

-When I become a lover

I feel like the king of time

I own the land and what is on it

And enter the sun on my horse

-When I become a lover

Water flows from my fingers

Grass grows on my tongue

When I become a lover

I become a time outside of time

-Sometimes it happens that I cry

Like children for no reason

It happens that I get tired of your kind eyes

With no reason ..

It happens that I get  tired of my words..

From my papers.. From my books

It happens that I get  tired of being tired ..

-The most wonderful thing about our love is that

It has no reason or logic

The most beautiful thing about our love is that

It walks on water and does not drown

I hope you enjoyed this post :) feel free to browse other posts on my blog, bookmark it, come back and visit me whenever you like :) and have a lovely time.
