I have always wanted to do the front split, and I think it's never too late to learn how to do it as long as you really want to. Many adults were successful in doing the split after being consistent with the right stretching routine.
Split training can have many benefits for adults, including improved flexibility and better range of motion.
Also I think it's really fun and gives you a sense of accomplishing something that many people don't think is possible.

I was so close to doing the split with my right side, but I struggled with my left side, which is normal.
