Disconnecting from technology for three hours

To cultivate better flexibility in my body and mind, I've taken up a yoga challenge, you can know more about it if you visit this link

Part of the challenge was to disconnect from all sorts of technology for three hours. The challenge is called "silence" and it focuses on being free from electronics (even music players).

What's the point of "silence"?

It's basically creating a boundary with technology. Some people prefer to call it "technology detox".

This challenge aims to let us figure out another way to spend our time to enjoy mindfulness and to stay present.

I see this kind of challenge as a chance to get to know myself better.

What can we do when we disconnect from technology?

We're free to do anything we want for this amount of time as long as it's not technology related.

During this challenge, I noticed how much I need background music (it's okay to need music but it's something that I noticed about myself).

Technology is great and makes everything easier but we could get too distracted by it in a way we might disconnect from ourselves.

How to do this challenge?

If you want to do this challenge then I will suggest that you plan what you want to do with this time before starting.

I didn't plan before starting and it made me feel a bit disoriented at the beginning. I didn't know what to do and almost gave up.

It wasn't easy for me but next time I will do "technology detox" for this long I will have it planned.

What did I do for three hours without any kind of electronics?

I chose something that I do regularly which is organizing and cleaning but without music. Boring choice to make during this challenge? Maybe.

It was more difficult without music but I felt more focused, I even found something that I was looking for after misplacing it for months.

Will I do it again?

I will apply the "silence" regularly but not for three hours, maybe for an hour after waking up or before going to bed.

It was a difficult but useful challenge. It made me know more about myself (including that I need to buy more books and not the digital ones).
