As part of my effort to boost flexibility in both my body and mind, I'm currently engaging in a yoga challenge, Today's challenge is based around the one-word intention: GROW!
The yoga teacher wants us to GENUINELY compliment someone we don't quite like.
She explains "Someone who rubs you the wrong way or that you tend not to get along with. Even though there's a lot you might not love about that person, I want you to try and find something good in them. Then, tell them! Compliment them on it! You can even do this through social media if it's easier for you. Practice sending positive energy out to others regardless of how you might feel about them. It's not about condoning bad behavior or pretending, it's about digging deep and finding something of innate value within all people. Go for it!!"
This type of challenge is common practice in shadow work, which I try to do regularly. It doesn't mean you go back in contact with someone abusive or toxic. Do whatever you can to protect your energy and safety.
I contacted someone that we never got along with each other, we always had miscommunication and misunderstanding, and I sent a positive message.
This message felt like the right thing to do and it shows that I healed a part of my ego. I'm proud of that. It doesn't mean I welcome this person in my life, but now things are more positive and less drama.
Sometimes the issues we have with other people reveal what we need to work on to heal ourselves.
Please share this post with your friends and feel free to email me, you'll find a contact widget on the blog to get in touch with me, I would love to hear from you.
