I'm doing the "FLEXIBLE BODY, FLEXIBLE MIND" yoga challenge, and today's intention is about "SOOTHE". Kassandra encourages us to "do a journaling exercise by writing a letter to your inner child. "
She explains "Imagine your 5 year old self and write a letter to him or her. What do you want to say to that child? What would you have needed to hear at that age? What are the hopes, dreams and fears? This can be done as a stream of consciousness exercise where you don't censor or edit what you write. If you prefer to write the letter in any other format such as a poem or an essay, feel free to do that instead! Go with your intuition and focus on soothing your inner child."
Writing this letter for my inner child was both an emotional and healing experience. So here's my letter to my younger self:
Dear 5-year-old me,
You won't believe me when I tell you everything will be okay and you'll probably sit on the floor to cry silently so no one hears you.
I know that you're always afraid of doing something wrong and you're trying so hard not to make any mistakes. it's too much for a child to deal with.
You'll find a safe home within yourself. You'll be your own hero.
Your grown-up self is brave. You'll defeat your fears. You'll travel. And guess what? you won't be afraid to speak up.
You won't hide your smile and you'll love the sound of your laugh too.
You're stronger and smarter than you think. Soon you'll realize that and you won't let anyone make you think otherwise.
Lots of love,
Your future self
Writing a letter to your five year old self can have numerous benefits.
-Reflecting on your past experiences.
-Gain a more profound understanding of how your childhood shaped you as a person.
-Providing closure for any unresolved issues or regrets from childhood.
-Serving as a reminder to appreciate the present moment and not take life too seriously.
I hope to hear from you, have you done this challenge or do you consider this in the future?
