I have accounts on most social media platforms. Although I'm mostly active on Twitter with a public account, my Instagram and Facebook accounts are private. I regularly unfollow accounts that don't match my vibes on Twitter, which is a great way to keep my "for you feed" drama free, but I needed to do that on Facebook and Instagram.
As part of my yoga challenge to improve flexibility in both the body and mind, today's challenge is based around the one-word intention: CLEANSE.
Kassandra, the yoga instructor, suggests "a social media cleanse" and explains, "I want you to go through all of your social media platforms and do a serious pruning of who you're friends with and who you follow. Do this on each and every platform you use such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Declutter those spaces so that the people and brands you encounter are still in line with your values and where you are in life. You can do the same thing with your mailing list! Unsubscribe to a bunch of mailing lists that aren't relevant to you anymore. It will feel good, I promise!"
So, I took Kassandra's advice and unfollowed one account on Instagram and unliked many Facebook pages that were cluttering my newsfeed. It took me a while but I'm glad I did it.
This simple action will make my online presence less stressful and will help me see the posts that I might find useful/interesting.
I hope you found this post helpful, and please let me know what you think. You can email me, and you'll find a widget to do so on this blog.
