The Art of Imperfection: Learning to Love My Messy Handwriting

For today's post, I'm going to reveal something that I'm really insecure about and it's my handwriting. I struggled with my handwriting my entire life, most of the people that I know have this perfect handwriting that's almost like fine art.

I write too fast and it's something that I can't control, I even type too fast on the computer (hence the typos in my blog posts).

This issue might sound small to many people who'll come across this post but really affected me either in exams or signing important papers.

I get an anxiety attack if I need to fill out documents or applications, I get the feeling that I'm going to be judged based on my handwriting.

Slowing down while writing might help a lot of people but in my case If I slowed down I will end up making spelling mistakes.

There are a few things that technically improved my handwriting and they are: not pressing too much while writing and releasing my grip on the pen.

These tricks make my handwriting less messy and more readable.

I need to make peace with this insecurity and accept it's part of who I am, also I remind people who make fun of my handwriting that many brilliant and talented people have bad handwriting including Pablo Picasso and Bill Gates.

If incredible people like them managed to do amazing things in their lives and still have bad handwriting, then what's stopping me from doing the same?

It's okay to have this flaw and it's fine to accept and even embrace it! That's what I keep telling myself.

Also as long as people can read what you write, that's more than enough. Anyway, if you have tips on how to improve handwriting or to embrace it as the way it is, please share them with me, you can email me with a widget you'll find on my blog.
