In this post, I want to discuss a topic that has been making waves on social media platforms, especially TikTok: Twin Flames.
While it may sound very romantic, there's a harmful side to this popular trend that can lead people to stay in toxic relationships/situations and end up with a broken heart.
I know this for a fact because it happened to me, I consumed the Twin Flame videos, looking for signs to comfort me when I should be ending a situation instead.
I started enduring things that I would normally run away from! I was hypnotized by the idea of having a Twine Flame, and I found an excuse for every negative behavior.
Some videos portray the lack of love and respect as a normal thing in the Twin Flame journey. Sugarcoating unhealthy patterns such as ghosting.
They can give people false hope that if they just stick with an unfulfilling relationship, it will eventually turn into something beautiful, which won't happen.
What exactly are Twin Flames?
According to popular belief, twin flames are two souls that are destined to be together. They are said to be the other half of our soul, completing us on a spiritual level.
The Danger of Twin Flame idealization:
TikTok videos can often create unrealistic expectations, causing people to believe that every behavior is worth enduring for the sake of their "divinely guided" connection.
What is painted as a fairytale come true, can turn into a nightmare and people will endure it because of fake promises.
Staying in Toxic Relationships:
By labeling a problematic relationship as a Twin Flame connection, people may feel compelled to endure mistreatment under the cover of spiritual growth. This can be a recipe for disaster.
Normalizing Bad Behavior:
When followers of Twin Flame content are repeatedly exposed to narratives that glorify the idea of enduring pain or mistreatment, they may develop a distorted understanding of healthy relationships.
So, what can we do to break free?
Understanding that we deserve respect, kindness, and happiness in our relationships. A true soul connection should uplift and empower us, rather than drain and diminish us.
While TikTok videos and viral posts about twin flames may captivate our imaginations, it's vital to approach such trends with caution. You deserve a love that uplifts you, not one that tears you down.
