Pre-Shadow Period of Mercury Retrograde: how to be ready?

We knew it was coming, but are we ready? the first Mercury Retrograde of 2024  that will take place from 1 April until 24 April, with the pre-shadow period starting on 18 March. This pre-shadow period can be just as intense as the retrograde itself.

What is the pre-shadow period of Mercury Retrograde?

The pre-shadow period of Mercury Retrograde is the period that comes before the actual retrograde. It is when Mercury starts to slow down in its orbit. This phase can last a couple of weeks and it is often overlooked and underestimated.

How to navigate the Mercury Retrograde pre-shadow period:

-Slow down

Mercury is the planet of communication and intellect, and when it appears to be moving backward, it can create confusion and miscommunication. During the pre-shadow period, it is essential to slow down and pay attention to details. Double-check your emails, messages, and important documents to avoid any misunderstandings.

- Reflect

As Mercury is slowing down, it gives us a chance to look back and use this time to tie up loose ends and finish any unfinished tasks. It is also an excellent opportunity to re-evaluate your goals and plans and make any necessary adjustments.

- Stay flexible

Mercury Retrograde, including the pre-shadow period, can bring unexpected changes and disruptions. It is essential to remain flexible and adaptable during this time. Have a backup plan in case things do not go as expected.

How to get the best of the pre-shadow period:

- Use the energy to your advantage

Mercury Retrograde is often associated with challenges and obstacles but it also offers a unique opportunity for growth and self-reflection. The pre-shadow period is an excellent time to tap into this energy and use it to your advantage. Use this time to dig deep and uncover any underlying issues or patterns that should be addressed.

- Practice self-care

The pre-shadow period can be mentally and emotionally taxing, so prioritize self-care during this time. Take breaks when needed, practice mindfulness, and engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation. This will help you stay grounded and centered amidst any chaos or confusion.

Mercury Retrograde in Aries:

Each time Mercury goes retrograde, it does so in a particular zodiac sign, which can also influence how it affects us. This upcoming retrograde will take place in the fiery sign of Aries, which is known for its impulsive and assertive nature, and combined with Mercury's energy, it can create a sense of impatience.

How can we navigate through this pre-shadow period?

The key to navigating through the Mercury Retrograde pre-shadow period is to be mindful and aware. Pay attention to any communication or technology mishaps that may occur, and this is also a good time to back up important documents and double-check any travel plans or appointments.

How can zodiac signs be affected?

Mercury Retrograde is when the planet Mercury appears to be moving in a backward motion in the sky, although it is actually just an optical illusion. This phenomenon occurs three to four times a year, and each retrograde period lasts about three weeks.

Mercury rules communication, travel, and technology in astrology. Each zodiac sign may be affected differently during this retrograde period. Aries, Gemini, Virgo, and Sagittarius are the signs most influenced by Mercury, so they may feel the effects more strongly.

Do not fear the Mercury Retrograde (and its pre-shadow period) as it is the time to pay attention to the areas of our lives that may need some readjustment. This is a great time to practice patience, self-care, and mindfulness. Instead of viewing it as a negative time, embrace it as a period of reflection and growth.
